Caught Up - Daily Drawings Catch Up #10

This is the painting I did last night which I quite enjoyed, though I stayed up really late to finish it.  Painted from reference.  Last night I also discovered a really addicting game called 2048 and I created my own version using my landscape paintings I did last year.  (Kimi is my gaming name.) Here is a link to the site http://2048.anilshanbhag.in/KimiLandscapes/

Please check it out, its fun!

Hint: Use the arrow keys to push all of the pictures in that direction.  When two of the same picture hit, they merge and become the next image in the sequence.  Every move you make will also spawn a random new lvl 1 picture (occasionally a lvl 2 picture spawns instead of a lvl 1).  There are a total of 11 images in the sequence.  My current high score is 7032, my friend's is 8040.  I've only ever made it to the 9th image in the sequence.  See if you can beat my score!

Black and White Paintings - Daily Drawings Catch Up #9

Recently I've been experimenting with black and white paintings done with the dense watercolor brush in Manga Studios.  I really enjoy this style.  Most of these were done from reference, except for the eye.

This was my first painting with this style.

Harley Quinn Sketch - Daily Drawings Catch Up #8

A sketch in honor of one of my favorite Batman villians, Harley Quinn.

Guardians of the Galaxy Love - Daily Drawings Catch Up #7

A sketch I did in honor of Guardians of the Galaxy.  The idea was kind of a female version of Groot.  This movie was so awesome.

Graphic Novel Exploration - Daily Drawings Catch Up #6

I've been working on a fanfiction graphic novel for League of Legends.  Here are some of my sketches for exploring style for the fanfic.

Sketches of various character's hairstyles.  I was working on trying to create easily recognizable silhouettes/styles for each character.

Facial expressions practice.

Strawberries and More - Daily Drawings Catch Up #5

Just a few more of my favorites that don't have a category.

League of Legends - Daily Drawing Catch Up #4

As always I am forever drawn back to League of Legends.  Love that game.  Here are some sketches that are League related.  Above is a quick sketch of Akali.

A couple sketches drawn in celebration of me getting the Hextech Anivia skin.

In celebration of Dino Gnar, which I think is one of the cutest skins in the game.  It makes me smile whenever I see one running around. (The sketch is day 31 but apparently I forgot to finish the word.)

My own designs for Super Galaxy Draven and Super Galaxy Janna skins.

Pop Culture Fashion - Daily Drawing Catch Up #3

One of the areas of art I really enjoy and hope to get a larger vocabulary/repertoire in is fashion design.  I do enjoy drawing fashion and I hope to get better at it in the future.  Here are some of my fashion sketches.  The ones below came from use of a lovely website called http://www.seventhsanctum.com/ which has a wonderful collection of creative random generators.  It has a vampire description generator, character generator, plot twist generator, dwarf name generator, anime power generator (the things anime characters scream when attacking like, "REMOTE DOMINATION WHIRLWIND!"  It also has a pop fashion generator.  It pairs a type of clothing - like Women's workout outfit or Men's military uniform - with a pop culture icon - like a pokemon character, Dr. Who, Dracula, etc.  Here are some of my creations.

Muumuu based on Gyrados (Pokemon), Women's Casual Outfit based on Godzilla, Cocktail Dress based on Frodo Baggins (Lord of the Rings).

Cocktail Dress based on Spongebob Squarepants, Yukata based on the Cheshire Cat (Alice in Wonderland), Maternity Wear based on Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story).

Men's Club Outfit based on Iron Man, Women's Winter Coat based on Azumarill (Pokemon), Tuxedo based on Pokedex (Pokemon). I need to get better at men's fashion cuz I have no practice with it. But I really liked the women's coat on this one.

Pokemon - Daily Drawings Catch Up #2

So around Day Five I had started playing Pokemon: Fire Red for gameboy on a simulator on my computer, so I was very absorbed into Pokemon.  This was me learning the watercolor tool in Manga Studios.

To the keen observer, these last 3 are not real pokemon.  These I made up off of the very helpful suggestions of a friend who suggested "yellow water elephant pokemon", "gray water dog pokemon", and my own "purple plant pirahana pokemon".  For naming them we went with the traditional type of naming convention used by Pokemon creators.  "If it looks like a seal, its probably called Seel. If it looks like a butterfly, its a Butterfree. Cacoon -> Kakuna. Snake -> Ekans."  So the water elephant is called Waadelephant.  The water dog is called Nawtwaterog (just to shake things up). And the plant pirhana is called Pirahanaplanter.  Genius, right?

Gosh Today Has Sucked - Daily Drawings Catch Up

I'm going to vent for a moment, please excuse me, oh faceless-internet-people-who-don't-care.  On top of other things that sucked today which I am not going to share, I couldn't access my blog because I couldn't remember my password (which is understandable since I  haven't used this in over a year).  And the only way google will let you reset your password is by texting you a code.  Which is a good system, assuming everyone on the planet is capable of receiving texts. Which I am not. So after trying the "other options" thing 5 times, trying every password I could think of, reading every article on their help center, actually attempting to call google - which doesn't give you an option to talk to support though you can get to their support with 0, which then puts you into a purgatory of "please wait for our next available representative", some raging and crying (this whole process taking roughly 2 hours), I finally achieved success.  How? By calling my phone company, Sprint, and talking to them. The very nice customer service representative, able to talk to with absolutely no wait, was able to unblock texting on my phone for today.  Which allowed me to receiving the text from the google unhelp and reset my password.  So THANK YOU, SPRINT for having actual customer service.  I kind of hate Google right now.

Okay I'm done raging.

So for the past 59 days - today will be 60 - I have succeeded in actually doing a drawing a day on my cintiq.  I have not missed a single day.  Which I am very proud of and I hope to continue this pattern indefinitely.  Two and a half frustrating hours ago I had decided to post some of my drawings (not all) so that my dear loving parents could see them and by extension any random internet people who find my blog.  I'm going to break these up into categories rather than put them in order.  This post contains just some of my random category defying sketches.

Not much to say on this one, but I like the totem pole.

Tried a new way of getting colored linework. Didn't work how I expected. Almost though.

Three minute sketch done on a night I had no time. The Bizon is one of my favorite weapons in CounterStrike: Global Offensive - a video game I play.  StatTrak is fun. ;)

This lovely sketch is from when I was sick and needed to go to bed, but didn't want to mess up my perfect record. So Jake told me to draw a smiley face with arms and legs. Mission accomplished.
